First off, who am I talking to here?

David Mitchell

Who does what in the band?

Melissa Funk plays drums, Billy Carter plays bass and sings back up and I play guitar and sing lead vocals.

Do you consider yourself an SF based band?

Yeah, definately.

How long did Charlie Mirador sleep on your couch?

A long time. I think he's gonna be crashing on my couch for the next week actually.

Where and when did Slow Trucks form?

The band was formed in August of 2008 in San Francisco. It was just a jam session that kinda turned into a band. We werent thinking serious about it, just messin around and having fun.

We started out with a differant bass player but he didn't work out so we asked Billy to join the band in November 2009. Since then, we started taking the band alot more serious by touring and recording and whatnot.

What does the name mean?

The name is a highway reference. You can see the signs through out California. Mainly on steep ingrades like the grapevine or the 17 through the Santa Cruz mountains. They are all over.

Is it hard to find a practice space in the city?

Yeah it's totally hard to find a good space. Usually your splitting a space with a really lame band that plays your gear and breaks shit. We have a rad space that we split with a couple of our friends bands. We've been there for about a year now and plan to stay there. Rocker Studios.

Does Nik Frietas influence you guys at all?

No not at all. Is that guy still alive?

Did you see him (Nik Frietas) on those late night shows?

What?  Was he on some Hollywood dating games or something.

How did you get on Future Farmer records and tell me about the label.

The label was started by Jeff Klindt and my brother, Dennis Mitchell. They wanted to support San Joaquin Valley bands that weren't getting heard.

We only put out a 7" on the label because my brother used to run it. The label isn't really up and running anymore. They just kind of did us a favor by putting it out.

It must have been hard when Jeff Klindt passed away, he was a huge influence.

I miss Jeff. He's the guy that actually showed me how to structure and write a song. Great guy who is definately missed by alot of people. He was a Visalian just like you and I.

Any upcoming tours planned?

Yeah. We are doing a two week tour at the end of October 2010. Pacific NW again. Should be rad. We've toured up that way a bunch and we are really looking forward to heading back up that way and seeing a bunch of our friends.

We are also planning a six week or more tour in early spring of 2011. That tour will be our first time hitting the East coast. That should be a fun one.

Shout outs?

We would like to thank 20 Sided Records and all of our friends in the bay area. You know who you turds are.
